About us

Every day, approximately 830 women worldwide die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, equating to one woman every two minutes, with 99% of these deaths occurring in developing countries. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 3.1 aims to reduce maternal mortality to less than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030. TibaSalama Digital Health App is a social enterprise dedicated to providing comprehensive maternity care referral services for pregnant mothers in underserved areas of Tanzania. Working closely with Local Government Authorities (LGAs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs) at the grassroots level, the app ensures the safety and health of both mother and child from pregnancy through the child’s fifth birthday.

TibaSalama leverages digital technology to bridge significant healthcare gaps, empowering communities and saving lives by enhancing CHWs’ ability to connect expectant mothers with essential healthcare services. In Tanzania, the leading causes of maternal and infant mortality are often attributed to health complications, negligence by pregnant mothers or healthcare providers, poor nutrition, and delayed initiation of prenatal care immediately after pregnancy diagnosis.

Our vision is to create a future where no mother dies from pregnancy-related complications and every newborn thrives, transforming healthcare delivery and reducing maternal and child mortality in Tanzania. TibaSalama is registered under Tanzania’s Business Name Registration Act of 2013, acquiring registration number 547059 on July 11, 2023.
