About us

TibaSalama Digital Health App is a social enterprise dedicated to delivering healthcare services to pregnant women and children aged 0-5 in rural, hard-to-reach areas of Tanzania. Our mission is to eliminate preventable maternal and child deaths by providing essential healthcare services. We achieve this through close collaboration with Local Government Authorities (LGAs), Community Health Workers (CHWs), and local health facilities in the project areas. We aim to eradicate preventable maternal deaths.

TibaSalama Digital Health App is registered under Tanzania’s Business Name Registration Act of 2013, with registration number 547059, acquired on July 11, 2023.

Every day, approximately 800 women around the world die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth, equating to one woman every two minutes. 99% of these deaths occur in developing countries. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 3.1 aims to reduce maternal mortality to less than 70 deaths per 100,000 live births by 2030.

What We Focus On:

1. Education and Empowerment: Addressing socio-economic challenges related to healthcare decisions and increasing community awareness through door-to-door education programs, working closely with CHWs (Community Health Workers) and leveraging technology.
2. Improvement of Referral Services: Enhancing transportation and communication for pregnant women during childbirth by providing affordable and timely services, ensuring referrals to nearby health facilities, particularly government health centers.
3. Training for Healthcare Providers: Providing education to healthcare providers to ensure high-quality and prompt care for pregnant women and children aged 0-5 years.
4. Providing Affordable Loans to Pregnant Women: TibaSalama also provides affordable loans to pregnant women, enabling them to access quality healthcare and overcome financial challenges during and after pregnancy. These loans help women receive timely healthcare, purchase essential items such as nutritious food and delivery supplies, and economically empower them during pregnancy. Additionally, these soft loans encourage women to start small businesses within their communities, helping them generate sustainable income and reduce poverty.
